All designer suits, sport coats, and dress pants must be taken to the dry cleaners. Throwing your suit or sport coat in the washer and dryer will absolutely ruin the garments. To ensure that your suit lasts as long as you need it to, we recommend that you drop it off at the nearby dry cleaners and they will handle the rest!  The good news is you should only have to do this once a year, at the end of the season. In the meantime, if you get a stain, make sure you wash it by hand before storing it in your closet.

Another practice that will keep your suits looking nicer longer is removing the lint, hair, surface dirt, and soil after each wear. This can be done by purchasing a handy lint tape roller or clothes brush. You can brush your double breasted suits regularly and thoroughly. Leaving the items in the plastic bags will increase moth holes and stale odors. In addition, plastic bags promote light damage and mildew. It is permissible, however, to hang your suit in the bag while you’re traveling.
