Blazer
Thursday, November 15th, 2007The blazer is a type of jacket that is typically styled to be a double breasted jacket although there are some that are single breasted and these have been gaining in popularity over the years. It is very much similar to the suit jacket but typically the largest difference is in the fact that it has patch pockets that do not have flaps and also there is the use of metal shank buttons as well. The fabric used is typically very durable and the item is made to last over long periods of time.
The blazer is typically also known as the boating jacket in some societies. The use is often widespread in schools and also in some sporting fraternities. The uniform use of the item is also popular as it is seen as the dress of many bodies such as airlines and clubs as well. There are many that have been adapted to suit clubs and will often have on the design a patch or logo for the particular organization as well.
There is no limit as to the colors of the blazer that are acceptable. They come in many colors and have been seen in colors ranging from navy blue to red. This type of jacket is immensely common in the color navy blue however. Having origins in the rowing fraternity this type of jacket remains a common form of wear in many boating clubs hence the term boating jacket that is used to describe it. The jackets continue to be used in many other sporting fraternities as well and often the award of one of these jackets is a symbol of achievement. Different colors are taken to mean different levels of achievement in some organizations as well.
